Greenforce Training
WDBCCC is helping prepare Contra Costa County workers for the future of clean energy through a strategic partnership with Viridi, a lithium battery manufacturer. This initiative introduces local workers to the latest developments in energy storage technology while creating pathways to careers in the growing clean technology sector.
Greenforce Training expands access to clean technology careers, with a particular focus on workers transitioning into new industries, such as those affected by oil and gas industry changes. The program provides equitable access to these opportunities, prioritizing people of color and underserved communities.
Through employer-led training, participants can develop skills and gain practical experience that prepare them for jobs in emerging clean energy industries. By preparing local workers with skills in battery manufacturing, service, and maintenance, WDBCCC is strengthening the local workforce while supporting industry growth, energy conservation, cost savings, and reduced harmful air emissions.
The program is also being integrated with the Green Empowerment Zone, connecting workforce development efforts with the region’s broader economic development initiatives.
