East Bay EDA Releases Economic Outlook Report for Download
Sacramento, CA – May 22, 2020 – The unemployment rate in the Oakland-Hayward-Berkeley Metropolitan Division was 14.2 percent in April 2020, up from a revised 4.0 percent in March 2020, and above the year-ago estimate of 2.7 percent.
This compares with an unadjusted unemployment rate of 16.1 percent for California and 14.4 percent for the nation during the same period. The unemployment rate was 14.1 percent in Alameda County, and 14.5 percent in Contra Costa County.
Between March 2020 and April 2020, the total number of jobs located in the East Bay counties of Alameda and Contra Costa decreased by 169,400 to total 1,007,400.
