Out-of-School Youth (Reconnecting Youth to Their Futures)
For youth who are no longer in school and have either graduated or did not complete high school and need help in reaching their goals, Workforce Investment Act (WIA) services can help youth achieve their training, education, and employment goals. Our service providers work with young people ages 16-21 who meet our eligibility requirements (low income plus one additional barrier), and who are seeking a way to become successful adults. Youth participants may get assistance from a career coach who can help set goals and offer support, guidance, and the belief in self that can be the difference between defeat and success. Getting employment and acquiring skills for continued learning and career success are the ultimate goals of this program.
Career coaches are at the America's Job Centers of California/EastBay Works throughout the county: Antioch, Brentwood, Concord and San Pablo. We also have offices that serve out-of-school youth in North Richmond, Pittsburg, and Martinez (for emancipated foster youth only at this location).
